12 Ibadan guards arraigned over alleged theft of court’s cables valued at N755,000

The Police on Wednesda arraigned 12 security guards before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged theft of armour cables valued at N755, 000.
The defendants were Adenekan Kolawole, 42, Olawale Oderinde, 32, Oladejo Kunle, 61, Akanbi Mutiu, 54, Adegbenro Jubril, 27, Nurudeen Olalekan, 26,
Also arraigned were, Rufus Adetunji, 72, Sarafadeen Lasisi, 52, Sulaimon Lamidi,55, Ayo Yusuf, 61, Babalola Samuel, 29, and Oladunjoye Okikidayo, 39.
They are being charged with conspiracy, damage and stealing to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Olapeju Durodola, told the court that the defendants and others now at large conspired to commit the offence.
Ms Durodola said that at about 1.00 a.m on February 21, the defendants stole armoured cable and transformer cable log on the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court premises.
She said that the offence contravened Section 390 (6) 451 and and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted each of the defendant to bail in the sum of N250, 000, with one surety in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the matter until April 23, for hearing.
