Police in Ogun arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated security operation conducted over the past week in Sagamu LGA.

The command’s spokesman, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement.

He said security agencies jointly arrested the suspects during a proactive, intelligence-driven operation earlier that day. They were nabbed during a “coordinated special raid operation”.

The raid, code-named ‘Operation Keep Sagamu Safe’, was carried out in the early hours of April 13, beginning at approximately 3:00 a.m. and targeting areas identified as criminal flashpoints within the town.

“The operation followed a series of strategic engagements with traditional authorities, the Sagamu local government council, and heads of security agencies aimed at strengthening collaborative security architecture.

“The intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted identified flashpoints within Sagamu, where suspected criminal elements had been observed to pose threats to public peace and safety. The operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order and reinforce public safety across the area,” the statement explained.

According to him, the operation was carried out jointly by police, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, demonstrating a unified, proactive security response framework.

He disclosed that officials were screening the arrested suspects to determine their individual levels of involvement in the reported criminal activities. He added that the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for discreet investigation.

The police commissioner in Ogun, Bode Ojajuni, commended the collaboration among security agencies, describing the operation as a proactive step towards curbing crime.
