202 road crashes, 64 deaths recorded in Ogun in six months: TRACE

Mr Ogunyemi said about 375 persons got injured within the period.

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says about 202 road accidents occurred between January and June 2024.

A statement signed by the commander and chief executive officer of TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi, on Friday in Abeokuta noted that road crashes decreased compared to 2023.

According to the statement, a total of 64 deaths, which consisted of 41 male adults, five male children, 15 female adults, and three female children, were recorded in the period.

Mr Ogunyemi said about 375 persons got injured, which consisted of 223 male adults, 24 male children, 94 female adults, five female children and 29 pedestrians

TRACE noted that 1,315 passengers were involved.

It further said that about 739 vehicles, which consisted of private cars, buses, trailers, jeeps, motorcycles, and articulated vehicles, were involved in the crashes.

Comparing 2024 and 2023, the agency said, “The records revealed that between January and June 2023, a total of 319 crashes were recorded.”
