First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for continued support and investment in paralympic athletes to enhance their performances.

Tinubu made the call at the reception for the contingent to the just concluded Paris 2O024 Paralympic games at the State House on Saturday in Abuja.

“This success is a call to action for all of us to continue to support and invest in our athletes,” said Tinubu. “We must ensure that the structures, resources, and opportunities necessary for their continuous growth are not just available but enhanced.”

According to her, the celebration of the team goes beyond the medals but for the spirit of resilience that defines the athletes.

“With two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, you have shown Nigeria and the world the meaning of perseverance, dedication, and true sportsmanship,“ she said.

She said the stellar performance of the athletes gladdened her heart, adding, “Our Para-athletes deserve the very best, and we must strive to provide the much-needed incentives to celebrate them.”

The First Lady acknowledged and commended the Minister of Sports Development, John Owan Enoh, and his team for their dedication, passion and remarkable work on the team.

Enoh, in his remarks, appreciated the First Lady for her kindness and support for the team.

He hailed the athletes, especially Oluwafemiayo and Mark, for their heroic performance, saying the female para-powerlifter demonstrated great skill, determination and an excellent spirit.

Olufufwmiayo, the team captain, thanked the First Lady for the warm acceptance and reception.
