The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the Nigeria Teachers’ Summit 2026, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, to reposition teachers in the extant education reforms in the country.

This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Saturday by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Folasade Boriowo.

Ms Boriowo said the summit would strengthen teachers’ roles and place them at the centre of education transformation and sustainability.

Ms Boriowo explained that the summit, themed ‘Empowering Teachers, Strengthening the System,’ would gather stakeholders to discuss teachers’ welfare, professionalism, instructional quality and learning outcomes.

According to her, the participants will include teachers, policymakers, legislators, development partners, civil society organisations, parents, media and private sector operators.

She stated that the opening ceremony would hold on Tuesday at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, delivering the keynote address.

Ms Boriowo added that the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, would give special remarks.

She added that the major highlight of the event would be the recognition of outstanding teachers, including awards for best-performing teachers from across the six geopolitical zones and the overall best teacher.

She stated that the awards would restore dignity to teaching, reward excellence and motivate the teachers as the key drivers of national development.

She said the event would also announce the launch of the Edurevamp Online Teacher Professional Development Portal to expand access to continuous learning and career development.
