2027: Enugu West senatorial zone raises N100 million for Gov Mbah’s nomination form

The Enugu West senatorial zone has presented a N100 million cheque for Governor Peter Mbah’s 2027 governorship nomination form in Enugu State.
The cheque was presented to the governor on Saturday during the Enugu West senatorial zone mega rally for the endorsement of President Bola TInubu and Gov. Peter Mbah, held at Awgu council area field.
At the rally, the leaders and supporters from the zone gathered to declare their support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The zone, which comprises Aninri, Awgu, Oji-River, Ezeagu and Udi Local Government Areas, presented the cheque to support Mr Mbah’s nomination form for re-election.
Speaking at the event, Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Sen. Osita Ngwu, described the endorsement as a collective decision driven by visible development and leadership performance.
“Today, we are not here by accident; we are here by conviction. We have seen leadership in action, we have seen results, and we have seen real progress,” he said.
Mr Ngwu commended Mbah’s administration for infrastructural development, improved security architecture and enhanced connectivity across the state, noting that the governor had demonstrated vision and execution.
He added that the zone’s endorsement of Mr Tinubu was based on confidence in his national reforms and commitment to economic stability.
Also speaking, Anayo Onwuegbu, representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, praised the governor for what he described as inclusive governance and strategic appointments that had benefited Enugu West.
He promised that the zone would reciprocate the administration’s efforts with overwhelming electoral support in 2027.
The Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Uchenna Okolo, reaffirmed the people’s loyalty to Mbah’s administration, stating that the council areas in the district were united in their support for continuity.
In his remarks, the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr Ben Nwoye, said the endorsement signified total alignment with the party’s leadership and candidates, urging voters to remain committed to the party ahead of the elections.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Charles Egumgbe, described the rally as a defining moment in the political history of the zone, stressing the need to sustain progress and reward effective leadership.
Chief of Staff to the governor, Victor Udeh, highlighted key achievements of the administration in Enugu West, including the construction of classrooms, ICT centres, healthcare facilities and road infrastructure.
“We are going to vote for APC from top to bottom,” he said.
Responding, Mr Mbah expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as “historic and overwhelming”.
He noted that President Tinubu’s economic policies had improved macroeconomic indicators, strengthened foreign reserves and increased funding for sub-national governments, enabling large-scale development projects.
He listed his administration’s transformative initiatives, including smart green schools, primary healthcare reforms, modern transport systems, and the planned introduction of free school meals by September 2026.
Mr Mbah commended the people of the zone for upholding the legacy of their forebears, describing their actions as a reflection of courage, unity, and a shared commitment to justice.
“You’ve shown that you cannot stand on the margins, and you cannot stand on the sidelines,” the governor said.
The governor recalled that the journey to the present moment began five years ago at the same venue, emphasising how communities came together to support a vision for Enugu State.
