The Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has fixed N7.5 million as the initial deposit for every intending pilgrim for the 2027 hajj.

The Executive Chairman of the commission, Mai-Aliyu Usman, stated this during an interview in Damaturu on Wednesday.

He said registration for the pilgrimage had commenced, urging intending pilgrims to complete the process before the deadline in September.

“Only three months remain before the closure of registration in September 2026, in accordance with the directive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Mr Usman said.

The chairman stated that payments must be made through designated desk officers at the commission’s headquarters and authorised hajj fare collectors in the 17 local government areas of the state.

The chairman warned members of the public against entrusting money to unauthorised individuals claiming to facilitate hajj registration.

He advised intending pilgrims whose passports were close to expiration to renew them promptly to avoid delays in visa processing.

Mr Usman urged zonal officers of the commission to intensify public sensitisation on the exercise, remain vigilant and ensure that available hajj slots were filled before the registration deadline.

He expressed appreciation to the state governor, Mai Mala Buni, for his continued support to the commission, describing the governor’s assistance as instrumental in the successful conduct of the 2026 hajj operation.
