2027: Matawalle urges prayers for peace

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has urged Muslims in Nigeria to use the Maulud period to pray for peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mr Matawalle made the call in a statement in Gusau on Tuesday by the publicity secretary of the Matawalle Political Movement, Malam Yusuf Idris.
Felicitating with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of 1448AH/2026 Maulud celebration, the minister urged them to use the period for prayer and supplication for the return of peace in the state and country at large.
“The Prophet Muhammad’s teachings cover every aspect of human life and should be emulated by every Muslim.
“Eid-el-Maulud offers the Muslim Ummah an opportunity for reflection on the teachings of the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which are anchored on peace, unity, and love for humanity,” he said.
According to the minister, the Prophet’s teachings encompass every facet of human life and remain worthy of emulation by all Muslims.
Mr Matawalle, therefore, urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of love, peace, tolerance, and compassion exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“This year’s Maulud is coming at a very critical time for our dear country, Nigeria, as we are preparing for another election cycle.
“Consequently, you will realise that at this critical time, we and our great nation need prayers the most for Allah to continue to guide us through the election season, where no one will be under any threat,” he said.
