2027: Nigerians should let Tinubu finish what he started in 2023, says Obasa

The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, says continuity is needed to consolidate the reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Mr Obasa said this in his Independence Day message issued by his media aide, Adeshina Oyetayo, on Thursday.
The speaker said the anniversary theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” underscored the need for sustained implementation of the reforms.
He said the administration had laid the foundation for economic recovery through measures to increase revenue, attract investment and strengthen the foreign exchange position.
“President Tinubu has laid a firm foundation for the prosperity of Nigeria with the reforms. Stability is now being entrenched,” he said.
He said the next phase should focus on completing major road, rail, and port projects; expanding local refining capacity; strengthening agriculture and human capital development; and ensuring fiscal recovery translates into tangible benefits.
“The next task is not to draw us back but to finish the work started in 2023,” he said.
Mr Obasa said the 2027 general election would be an opportunity for Nigerians to choose continuity of the reform programme.
The speaker congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the country’s 66th Independence anniversary and commended their support for the administration.
He pledged that the state assembly would continue to cooperate with the federal government, noting that Lagos, as the nation’s commercial centre, understood the importance of policy consistency to development.
