2027: NOA begins grassroots voter mobilisation in Adamawa

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Adamawa has unveiled a grassroots voter mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections across the state’s 21 local government areas (LGAs).
Benjamin Inuwa, acting state director of the agency, stated this at a news briefing in Yola on Saturday.
The theme of the campaign is “Your Vote, Your Voice; Our Future: Say No to Voter Apathy, Vote Buying and Violence – Let’s Build a United Nigeria in 2027”.
Mr Inuwa said the agency would soon activate its LGA offices to mobilise voters to participate actively in the elections.
According to him, the agency would also pay courtesy visits to all emirs and chiefs to strengthen the exercise at the grassroots and ensure peaceful and successful elections.
He called on eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) on time to enable them to vote for candidates of their choice and shun vote selling.
The director also called on all candidates aspiring to political offices across the various political parties to embrace peaceful campaign rallies and control their utterances.
He also urged young people to shun political thuggery, the spread of fake news and misinformation before, during and after the elections.
“Democracy strives when citizens participate, elections succeed when it’s peaceful, a nation makes progress when its people place collective interest against narrow political considerations,” he said.
According to him, one of the greatest challenges is voter apathy, as eligible voters have, over the years, expressed frustration with the political process for various reasons.
He encouraged them to have confidence in the electoral process and understand that their votes were their power, rather than stay away from exercising their franchise as Nigerians.
“I am appealing to you to make sure you participate.
“Ensure you are properly registered, verify your polling unit and familiarise your self with electoral process as directed by the INEC.
“Therefore, it’s your constitutional rights and it’s also your civic responsibility,” he said.
