2027: Oyo SUBEB chair Adeniran joins governorship race under PDP

Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Nureni Adeniran, has thrown his hat in the gubernatorial race under the Peoples Democratic Party, ahead of the 2027 election, in a bid to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde.
Mr Adeniran, in a statement on Monday, explained that his intention to run and succeed Mr Makinde as governor is not only driven by his desire to build on the progress recorded throughout his time in office, but also aimed at serving the people.
Mr Adeniran said, “I am offering myself to serve as Governor of Oyo State, not out of ambition but out of conviction; not for power, but for purpose; not to be celebrated, but to empower. I am stepping forward to consolidate the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde, my leader and principal.
“Continuity is the foundation of sustainable progress, and Oyo State deserves nothing less. The people of Oyo State do not want to lose the benefits of this administration. The legacy of Omituntun bequeathed to our state must not and shall not die.”
Vowing to prioritise quality education, youth empowerment, security, and infrastructure development while promoting innovation and inclusive governance, he added that his vision is to govern “a state where every child has access to quality education, where our youths do not have to leave home to find opportunity, and where security is guaranteed for every citizen.”
He emphasised that his ambition is rooted in the collective aspirations of the people, including farmers, traders, teachers, artisans, healthcare workers, civil servants, and students.
He vowed that his administration, if voted into office, would create more employment opportunities for youths by supporting entrepreneurship, attracting investments, expanding sectors such as education, agriculture, technology, and small-scale industries, and creating an enabling environment for their businesses to grow and thrive.
He appealed for the support, prayers and trust of the Oyo people.
