The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe has inaugurated three zonal committees to reconcile aggrieved members of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Idi Gubana, the state’s deputy governor, while inaugurating the committees on Wednesday in Damaturu, expressed optimism that the committees would resolve internal disputes and strengthen the party’s unity in the state.

Muhammad Lamin will chair the committee in Yobe East, while Abubakar Aliyu and Suleiman Garba will chair the committees in Yobe South and Yobe North Senatorial Districts.

He listed the terms of reference of the committees to include mediating disputes arising from the party’s primary elections, identifying aggrieved members and developing lasting and acceptable solutions.

Others are ensuring confidentiality in deliberations, delivering APC at all levels and working towards the party’s victory at the 2027 elections.

Mr Gubana tasked the committees with submitting a final report to the state working committee and harmonised reports containing recommendations for sustained unity, as well as strengthening the party’s support base and structures.

He said the committee was expected to conclude its assignment and submit its report within two weeks of its inauguration.

The state APC chairman, Muhammadu Gadaka, informed the committee members that their selection was based on merit, urging them to justify the trust reposed in them.

He directed the party’s officials at the local government levels to support the committees in delivering on their mandate.

The reconciliation move comes amid a court case involving Baba Wali, the state APC governorship candidate and Yunusa Maihaja, one of Wali’s opponents in the primary election.
