The police command in Delta has impounded 21 vehicles for various traffic rule violations in the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Mr Edafe said the vehicles were seized on Tuesday in the Abraka and Ozoro communities in the state.

He said the operation was led by the command’s deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Mr Edafe added that the operation was part of the command’s ongoing enforcement of traffic regulations to improve public safety in the state.

“On July 21, the command impounded 21 vehicles during an intelligence-led enforcement operation conducted across Abraka and Ozoro.

“The vehicles were impounded for various offences ranging from non-display of registration number plates, covered number plates, and expired vehicle particulars.

“The affected vehicles will be subjected to the appropriate legal and administrative processes,” he said.

Mr Edafe said the state commissioner of police, Yemi Oyeniyi, had reiterated that vehicles without proper identification or valid documentation posed significant security risks.

He quoted the commissioner as also saying, “The situation can be exploited to facilitate criminal activities.”

Mr Oyeniyi advised motorists to comply with all extant traffic and vehicle registration regulations.

He said the command would continue with the intelligence-led enforcement across the state to promote public safety and strengthen security.
