22-year-old man arraigned for allegedly stabbing lady

The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Vincent Orjima, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly beating and stabbing a lady.
Orjima, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of assault, attempted murder and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 23 at 8.30p.m. at Iyana-Ajara area of Badagry.
Mr Ekpo said that the defendant stabbed the complainant, Sesede Hunvenu, with a knife on her left hand.
He said that the defendant also beat up the complainant leaving her with severe injuries.
“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace, by causing a pandemonium,” the prosecutor said.
Mr Ekpo said that the offences contravened Sections 206, 171 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1,000,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Mr Layeni said that the sureties must be either a pastor or a community leader, who should deposit N25,000 with the court registrar.
He adjourned the case until September 3 for mention.
