24-hour operation reduced Ogun road traffic crash cases by 41.11%: TRACE
The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps said road crashes in the state reduced by 41.11 per cent due to its introduction of 24 hours operations.
The TRACE Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, stated this at a news conference in Abeokuta on Thursday.
The news conference was organised as part of activities to celebrate TRACE at 20, commemorate the 10th Annual TRACE Commanders’ Conference and the retirement of TRACE Commander.
He stated, “Also worthy of note is the introduction of the 24 hours operational services through the TRACE Special Operation Force Unit, the TRACE Whistle Blower Initiative and the TRACE Emergency Traffic Service. All of these have contributed to the prompt and timely response to rescue and emergency services and have led to a 41.11 per cent reduction in the total number of crash cases. Also, a 31.25 per cent reduction in the total number of fatalities and 29.49 per cent in the total number of serious cases.’’
The commander also said that the corps planned to increase the number of commands in the state to enhance service delivery.
He disclosed that the agency would soon open zonal commands in the three Senatorial District in Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West.
Mr Ogunyemi further said that nine area commands would be created in the Federal Constituencies in Ogun as well as 18 corridor commands.
The corridor commands, Mr Ogunyemi said, would be created in all the 18 major corridors of the state.
The commander appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the employment of 1,000 officers, noting that it would further increase the organisation’s visibility and responsiveness.
