The police command in Oyo State says it has commenced an investigation into the alleged murder of a 26-year-old lady, Precious Mogaji, by her boyfriend, in the Oguntula area of Ojoo, Ibadan.

In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the incident occurred on Saturday, March 7. He noted that a concerned citizen alerted the police around 5:00 a.m. that the victim’s lifeless body was found at the entrance of her boyfriend’s room on Saturday.

Mr Olayinka said a patrol team and an incident duty officer from the Ojoo Police Division who visited the scene found the lifeless body in front of the suspect’s room.

The spokesman stated that the police team evacuated her body to a hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of her death.

“Upon arrival, the lifeless body of the victim was discovered on the floor at the doorway of the suspect’s room. The body was forensically examined, and findings duly documented in line with established investigative procedures and laid-down rules.

“Following the preliminary examination, the scene was properly documented, and photographs were taken. Thereafter, the corpse was evacuated by the Police to a hospital, where it has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death,” he added.

Mr Olayinka said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the victim’s boyfriend, identified as Quadri Mohammed (29), who is currently on the run.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public with relevant information that could assist the command’s investigation to contact the nearest police station or the command
