27-year-old man bags seven years in jail for raping minor in Niger

Justice Binta Bawa of the Niger State High Court has sentenced Hussaini Suleiman, a 27-year-old man, for raping an eight-year-old girl at his residence behind Prison Quarters, Minna.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The agency further stated that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) referred the case to it after receiving a report.

“A Niger State High Court sitting in Minna, presided over by Hon. Justice Binta Bawa, has convicted Hussaini Suleiman (27, male) for raping an eight-year-old girl at his residence behind the Prison Quarters, Minna, Niger State,” it said.

“The convict pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment. The convict admitted to committing the offence and was arraigned before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court, Minna,” the agency added.
