A Kenyan student studying in the United Kingdom, Edna Ombakho, has been found dead, two weeks after she was declared missing.

‎The corpse of the 31-year-old master’s student at the York St John University in London was discovered in a Wraysbury river by UK authorities on Sunday.

‎Ms Edna was declared missing by authorities after she went out for a walk from her residence in Wraysbury, Berkshire on February 1.

‎When she failed to reach out to her regular contact, her family in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, reported that they suspected something had happened to her.

‎An earlier information by Kenyan Human Rights organisation, Haki Africa, had published on disappearance of the 31-year-old, urged anyone with useful information to help in the search for her.

‎Ms Edna lived with her boyfriend until her disappearance.

‎The UK’s Thames Valley Police said that Ms Edna was a 5″5 foot tall and last seen wearing a long fur lined khaki coat, knee high boots and a pair of glasses.

Though the cause of her death has yet to be known,  authorities were working to unravel the incident.

‎Ms Mmbali’s demise is one of the deaths of Kenyans in the UK in recent times.

‎Friends and schoolmates took to social media to mourn Ms Mmbali.

‎One of them, MrViolence99, stated, “She was my highschool classmate, rest peacefully, gal”

‎Another commenter, @iamtracyemma, stated, “She was my school mate, St Joe, Rest easy Ed.”

‎Also, @faithsonia who seems close to one of the deceased’s relatives, said, “Oooh Edna, my girl, 🥲🥲🥲, my heart goes out to Mrs Ombakho, my former teacher.”

‎Calvinecait stated, “Oh dear high school mate, Edna, you were such a humble and lovely girl. May your family find peace during this difficult period.”

‎Another user identified as Ms_Kahiga , in reference to Me Mbali’s death, cited a similar incident which happened her friend in 2023.

‎”My friend Maureen Gitau suffered a similar fate in the UK on Dec 2023. May both these angels rest in peace,” she said.
