8th Osun Assembly Speaker pledges to run open office

The newly-elected Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, on Wednesday, pledged to run an open office and be accountable to the people.
Mr Egbedun made the pledge during a media parley with journalists at the parliamentary room of the Assembly in Osogbo.
The speaker also solicited the support of the media in disseminating information on legislative activities and the laws enacted by the legislature to the public.
Mr Egbedun disclosed that he had met with his colleagues and after rubbing minds, they all agreed to put their differences aside and work for the success of the 8th Assembly.
“The success of the 8th Assembly is our goal,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Egbedun has promised to work with the Osun House of Assembly Service Commission to bring about the needed development to legislative activities in the state.
The Speaker gave the assurance when the board of the commission led by its chairman, Abiodun Awolola paid him a courtesy visit, and said that the commission would be regularly consulted to gain from their wealth of experience.
Mr Awolola, in his remarks, said that their visit to the speaker was to assure him of the cooperation of the commission to work closely with the 8th assembly under his leadership.
He said the commission would always be available for guidance, where necessary, and promised a smooth working relationship with the assembly.
He appealed to the speaker to also relate with them with love and understanding.
The 8th Osun State House of Assembly was inaugurated on Tuesday with Adewale Egbedun, a first-time lawmaker, emerging as the speaker.
