The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 94 suspects linked to various crimes, including suspected armed robbery, kidnapping, human trafficking, and drugs in different parts of the state.

The state commissioner of police, Ibrahim Bakori, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the achievements of the command.

Mr Bakori also said that several exhibits including firearms, ammunition, motor vehicles, motorcycles, and illicit drugs were recovered from the suspects.

He said, “We arrested eight-armed robbery suspects, eight suspected kidnappers, three human trafficking suspects, 14 suspected drug dealers and 61 suspected thugs (Yan-Daba).  The command also successfully rescued one victim of human trafficking.’’

The police commissioner attributed the feat to the community-centred approach adopted by the command, adding that it entailed combining robust community engagement with tactical policing strategies.

He added that the success demonstrated the effectiveness of community-centred policing and the command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state.
