LASU student allegedly killed by reckless Lagos driver

A 200-level Law student of the Lagos State University (LASU) has died from an alleged hit and run along the LASU-Ipaye Road.
The victim, a 24-year-old lady named Togbola Elizabeth, was allegedly hit by an unidentified driver, who sources say is presently on the run from the law.
A source told Peoples Gazette that the body of the victim was found on the roadside on Tuesday morning. The source said she was allegedly coming from her boyfriend’s apartment after they had an argument and she was sent out of his apartment.
The source said she was on her way to her hostel when she was hit by the reckless driver and left unattended to, resulting in her death.
The boyfriend, according to the source, has been taken into custody by the state police.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, said: “I got a confirmation that Togbola Elizabeth, a student of LASU is dead, the family is aware.”
Reacting to the incident, Badmus Uthman, the president of Lagos State University Student’s Union (LASUSU), said “This morning I just received a call from the dean of student affairs that a student had an accident along LASU-Ipaye road.
“We just found her by the roadside around 7:00 a.m., probably it happened at midnight or early this morning,” Mr Uthman added.
Tajudeen Olumoko, the school’s Dean of Students’ Affairs, said the deceased’s family have duly been informed, and “were even at the mortuary with us where we went to drop her body.
“It was a hit and run case. The lady was hit by an incoming vehicle. It happened at night (Monday). She was coming from her friend’s place.”
The spokesperson for LASU, Adekoya Martins, said the school management has no information about the incident.
