APC presidential primary election defeat taught me lessons: Yahaya Bello
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi says contesting in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election has taught him lessons on Nigerian politics.
Me Bello, who contested in the primary election and lost, disclosed this in a video posted on Facebook by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Mohammed on Sunday.
“If I hadn’t contested, I wouldn’t have gained the experience and lessons we have garnered today. Today, I know who the Nigerian elite are, nobody will tell me. If I hadn’t participated, I wouldn’t know what Nigeria’s politics is all about,” Mr Bello said.
“If I hadn’t participated. I wouldn’t have known that the knees of some people are on the neck of Nigeria. If I hadn’t participated, they wouldn’t know who Yahaya Bello is, and I wouldn’t have known their true colours,” he added.
Mr Bello polled a measly 47 votes in the primary election held earlier in the month, and won by former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu with 1,271 votes.
Former minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Vice president Yemi Osinbajo came second and third respectively with 316 and 235 votes.
