Ronaldo made Manchester United worse, says ex-Liverpool defender Carragher

Ex-Liverpool defender and English football pundit Jammie Carragher has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo, saying he made Manchester United worse.
Reacting to Ronaldo’s call to Manchester United to allow him leave, Carragher tweeted: “Ronaldo did exactly what I thought he would do, score goals but make the team worse.”
The pundit also said Ronaldo’s request to leave shows he doesn’t love the club.
“The transfer request also kills the idea he turned down Man City because of his love for Man United,” Carragher added.
Carragher’s criticism of Ronaldo, who joined the Red Devils last summer, comes amid reports that the Portuguese star wants to leave the struggling club.
The Times on Saturday reported that Ronaldo’s call to leave Manchester United was informed by his desire to play in the Champions League.
With dismal performance last season, Manchester United ended sixth on the English Premier League log, thereby failing to qualify for the Champions League.
Manchester United won 16 games, scored 57 goals, to garner just 58 points in the season.
Ronaldo, 37, who made a return to United last summer, has played in 19 consecutive editions of the Champions League since he first joined Manchester from Lisbon in 2003.
The Portuguese star and five-time Ballon d’Or winner played for Real Madrid, winning four Champions League in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
