Delta primary, secondary schools to resume September 28

The Delta State Government on Wednesday approved September 28 for the reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state.

Patrick Ukah, commissioner for basic and secondary education, said that the schools would re-open for the conclusion of the 2019/2020 academic session and the commencement of a new academic session.

Secondary school students in JSS 1, JSS 2, SSS 1 and SSS 2 who are yet to write the second term examination will resume from September 28 to October 9, the official said.

This would enable them to prepare for and write their second term examinations, adding that “boarding students are expected to resume on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020’’.

Also, pupils in primary four and five who are yet to complete the second term examination would resume on October 6.

The commissioner stated that the second term examinations would be waived for pupils in primaries one to three.

The resumption dates for the first term in the 2020/2021 academic session for pupils and students in primary and secondary schools would run from October 12 to December 18 while the second term academic session will commence on January 4.

Resumption for all nursery/pre-primary KG one to three pupils has been deferred till January 2021.

Delta state has witnessed a decline in reported cases of coronavirus recording one positive case on September 22 while 101 individuals are on admission.
