The audio application allows users to listen and host conversations in real time.

Creators of the popular social media app, Clubhouse, says a version of the app for Android users would soon be available.

The founders of the company, Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, announced on Sunday in a blog post that Clubhouse will also be able to work on Android smartphones in the future.

The blog post read that the company will “soon begin working on the Android app and add more functionality for accessibility and localisation so that people around the world can experience clubhouses.”

There is no set date for this new launch.

The audio application allows users to listen and host conversations in real time, and has garnered two million active users since its launch. The app has only been available for iPhone users.

It is run on an invite-only basis, once invited you can then join an audio conference.

Groups of people are allowed to speak, coordinated by a few moderators. No video, no text chat — it’s just audio for now. So far there are no versions for browser windows, and no desktop version.

The platform is free to all users, and does not require users to subscribe to any premium plan, the platform also does not support ads.

Subject to new funding, Clubhouse intends to introduce features to help creators on the platform get played, via subscriptions and tips.

The funds will aide the ‘Creator Grant Program’ set up by Clubhouse, which will be used to “support emerging Clubhouse creators” according to the startup’s blog post. This will help new creators carve out a niche on the platform for themselves, similar to YouTube and TikTok influencers.
