City’s Haaland announces EPL presence with brace against West Ham

On his English Premier league debut, Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City beat West Ham 2-0 in their first game of the season on Sunday.
He follows Argentine Sergio Aguero as City’s second player to net a brace on his EPL debut. Aguero achieved the feat in 2011.
Haaland opened scoring for City from the spot in the 36th minute.
The Norwegian striker who joined City during the summer transfer made it two in the second half courtesy of a brilliant pass from Kevin De Bruyne, sealing City’s victory.
He could have completed a debut hat-trick minutes later, but headed a Jack Grealish’s cross over the bar.
In the match played at West Ham’s London Stadium, The Citizens were dominant for the most part, keeping the ball 76 per cent of the time.
The defending champions laid the marker for the new season with Sunday’s performance.
Manager Pep Guardiola’s praised his boys for “an excellent performance” against West Ham.
“What we did not do against Liverpool in terms of being competitive, we did it today,” Guardiola said. “We played a really good game, Erling scored the two goals and it is important for him, for us, for everyone.”
