Police rescue three alleged fraudsters from mob

The police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) says it rescued three alleged internet fraudsters from a mob in the Lokogoma area of Abuja.
Spokeswoman Josephine Adeh disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
She said the police commissioner in charge of the FCT, Babaji Sunday, cautioned the public against jungle justice.
According to the statement, Mr Sunday said a preliminary investigation revealed that the mob attacked the suspects after attempting to defraud a female point-of-sale (POS) operator.
The statement added that the suspects were rescued following the prompt intervention of the police and were currently in police custody.
The incident occurred around Peace Court Estate, on Lokogoma Road.
The police commissioner condemned the mob action and urged residents to lodge complaints at police stations to seek justice. He stressed the need to allow justice to prevail at all times, irrespective of the crime committed.
The police chief warned that resorting to self-help is criminal and punishable by law. He said a full-scale investigation was underway to establish the facts of the case.
