Kwara clears N22.5 million NBC broadcast licence debt: Official

Kwara State Broadcasting Service was among the 52 broadcast stations whose licences were revoked by the NBC last week over a N2.6 billion debt.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has approved the immediate payment of the N22.5 million broadcast license fee owed by the state-owned broadcasting corporation.

Kwara State Broadcasting Service Limited was among the 52 broadcast stations whose licences were revoked by the National Broadcasting Commission last week over a N2.6 billion debt.

The debt has now been cleared according to a statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday by Ayobami Ashaolu, the press secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Communications.

The state Commissioner for Communications, Olabode Towoju, said that the state government had paid N10 million out of the initial N32.5 million debt since September last year.
