Keke rider drowns in Kano river
A 25-year-old man, Ammar Ibrahim, has drowned in a river at Tattarawa village, in Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Kano Fire Service’s spokesman, Saminu Abdullahi, on Wednesday in Kano.
Mr Abdullahi said the incident occurred on Tuesday.
“We received an emergency call at about 11:34 a.m. from one Muhammad Sani, and we sent our rescue team to the scene at about 11:55 a.m.,” said the statement.
It added, “The tricycle operator, who was on his way back to Kano, parked at the roadside near a river with the intention of washing the tricycle but unfortunately slid into the river. He made several efforts to escape, but he became helpless.”
The statement also mentioned that Mr Ibrahim was brought out of the water unconscious and was later confirmed dead.
His remains were handed over to police officer Jerry Mathew of Dawakin Tofa Police Division.
