Lagos seals night clubs, event centres over violation of COVID-19 guidelines
Authorities in Lagos have shut some night clubs and event centres across the state for contravening COVID-19 guidelines emplaced to curb the spread of the contagion.
The recreation centres were sealed Saturday by the Lagos State Safety Commission in conjunction with Lagos State Police Command.
The government listed the sealed venues as; Molobi event centre, DNA NightClub, FM Events Centre, Triple C Event, Pluto Club, Sailor Lounge, Club G12, Tiger Bar, Bayrock, Jacksport, Club Ibiza, Dynasty Sports Bar and Lounge, and 20/20 Bar.
The Commissioner for Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that the police will continue to monitor compliance across the state while warning that COVID-19 violators will be arrested and charged to court.
He urged Lagosians to protect themselves and others by following the laid down regulations by the government.
Lagos remains the epicentre for COVID-19 and has been the worst-hit state in Nigeria with over 53,041 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
