Another tragedy has struck the media community covering the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar following the sudden death of photographer Khalid al-Misslam on Saturday.

A local media outlet in the country reported that Al-Misslam, a Qatari journalist with Al Kass TV, suddenly collapsed while covering games on Saturday.

He was reported to have been rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“Al-Misslam, a Qatari, died suddenly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” the Gulf Times said.

“We believe in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for him and send our deepest condolences to his family.”

Al-Misslam’s death came just a few days after the death of a famous American journalist covering the World Cup in Qatar.

Grant Wahl, who was at the time of his demise working with American media outlet CBS Sports, collapsed while covering the quarterfinal clash between Netherlands and Argentina on Friday.

He was transported from the Lusail Iconic Stadium by Uber to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

According to TMZ, the 49-year-old was suffering from bronchitis but his organisation reported the cause of his death to be heart attack.
