LP House of Assembly candidate shot dead in Imo

Christopher Eleghu, a member of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo state, has been reportedly shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen.
Mr Eleghu, who is also the candidate of the party for the Onuimo State Constituency, was killed Thursday night in his house.
It was gathered that the armed men set fire to the house and properties of Mr Eleghu, who was best known as “WASCO” among his political associates.
“They killed the man and burnt his house. They also destroyed his property. His corpse was laying on the floor with matchet cuts when villagers gathered in the morning,” a source told the Punch.
Efforts by Peoples Gazette to get reactions of Michael Abattam, police spokesman in Imo proved abortive as his line was not connecting as at the time of filing this report.
The gruesome killing of Mr Eleghu is coming barely a few weeks after Chukwunonye Irouno, a candidate of LP in Okigwe died in mysterious circumstances.
