At least two persons were fatally shot by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Kaduna, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs said in a statement on Friday.

The deadly separate attacks were carried out in villages across two Local Government Areas (LGA) of the State.

Mr. Aruwan, Friday, disclosed that the brigands during the early hours of Friday attacked and fatally shot a “herder” in a forest on the outskirts of Doka village in Kajuru LGA.

He noted that the armed bandits opened fire on Idris Saudi Yakubu (deceased) and carted away with his motorcycle and other valuables.

The commissioner further noted that the assailants are responsible for the reocurring killings and kidnapping activities within the LGA.

“Security operatives on the trail of the armed bandits, said the assailants are responsible for the killing and kidnapping in the Kasuwan Magani and Doka general areas and other locations in nearby Kajuru local government.”

“The corpse has been retrieved and handed over to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.” Mr. Aruwan said.

In another separate attack, the brigands attacked and killed a truck driver identified as Sani Soja was on Wednesday in Giwa LGA.

The statement further disclosed that the late truck driver’s assistant whose truck was blocked by the brigands along Unchalke Garawa village road sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.

“Bandits blocked the Garawa village road and opened fire on a truck carrying sugarcane from a weekly market in a neighboring state.

“The driver of the truck, Sani Soja died instantly following the gun shots by the armed bandits, while his assistant, one Abduljalal, sustained bullet wounds and was rushed to a hospital where he is receiving treatment.” the commissioner said.

Bandits have continued to carry out deadly attacks on residents in communities across Kaduna leading to the deaths of many civilians and security operatives.

The armed thieves have successfully launched several attacks unchallenged by security operatives across the northern region.
