11 died, 10 injured in Niger road accident: FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 11 persons lost their lives while 10 others were injured in a road crash on Monday at Kudu village, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Confirming the incident in Minna on Tuesday, Kuwar Tsukwam, state Sector Commander of the corps, said that the accident occurred at about 3:17 a.m. on Monday.
Mr Tsukwam said the accident involved a Toyota commercial bus with registration number FST 325 YE coming from Lagos to Kaduna State.
The second vehicle involved was conveying cows with registration number EKY 869 XE heading to Lagos State.
He said that the vehicles had a head on collision, adding that the driver of the trailer was yet to be found.
“Twenty two persons were involved in the accident, eleven of them died, ten others sustained various injuries and one unhurt.
“The crash victims were taken to General Hospital Mokwa for treatment while the eleven corpses were deposited at Federal Medical Centre Mortuary Bida.
“We also recovered the sum of N35,160, bags of filter pumps, 3 wrist watch, one gallon of vegetables oil, 9 different phones and several cows,” he said.
Mr Tsukwam blamed the crash on speeding and advised motorists to always observe speed limits to avoid crashes.
