Many vigilantes have been killed by bandits in Yargoje Forest in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The convoy of the local security outfit, who were in the forest to rescue rustled cows, was ambushed by the marauders who opened fire on them, leaving scores of casualties.

Reacting to the gruesome killing, President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday condemned the attack.

Mr Buhari said the sacrifices of the brave men who were working to prevent and punish crime in their communities would not be forgotten.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult period. May Allah repose the souls of the deceased,’’ the president said in a statement signed by his media assistant Garba Shehu.
