Gov. Yusuf disburses N56 million to 1,116 hawkers, vulcanisers in Kano

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, on Thursday, distributed N55.8 million to 1,116 hawkers and vulcanisers to boost their businesses in the state.
The empowerment programme, which was organised by the Cottage Trade and Street Hawking Agency in the state, saw each of the beneficiaries receive N50,000 in grants.
Speaking at the event, Mr Yusuf said each of the beneficiaries received a grant of N50,000 to support their businesses.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to empowering youths in order to scale up and boost their businesses.
The governor said the next batch of beneficiaries would include mechanics who repair both vehicles and motorcycles, as well as positive content creators.
He also said plans were underway to empower scavengers, barbers, GSM repairers, among other petty traders, with the necessary support and equipment to boost their businesses.
On his part, the director-general of the agency, Khalifa Bichi, commended the governor for the gesture.
He said the gesture reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening small businesses, reducing unemployment, and expanding economic opportunities at the grassroots.
