Benue: APGA guber candidate Waya hails Supreme Court ruling

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Benue, Joseph Waya, has hailed the judiciary for upholding his nomination.
This is contained in a statement he signed on Monday.
According to the statement, the Supreme Court on Monday in Abuja affirmed his candidature as the duly elected governorship candidate of APGA in Benue.
“In its unanimous ruling, read by Justice C.C. Nweze, the panel of five judges said that the Appeal Court had no business interfering with the evaluation of evidence of the trial court,” said the statement. “They averred that the trial court rightly evaluated the evidence before it and found that the first respondent, Prof Priscilla Aka, failed to prove her case on the balance of probability.”
It added that the court ordered the relevant government organs to include the party’s name on the ballot papers of the governorship election in Benue.
Mr Waya also mentioned that with the verdict from the apex court, the party and its candidate are set for the Saturday poll.
Ms Aka had sued APGA, Mr Waya and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over irregularities and disenfranchisement of her supporters during the governorship primary.
