On Monday, two Palestinians were shot and killed in confrontations with the Israeli military in Nablus in the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah said.

According to the Israeli army, the two were suspected of being involved in an attack that injured two soldiers in Huwara.

The Israeli army said that during the operation, in which the suspects were arrested, the soldiers came under fire and fired back.

In addition, military equipment, weapons, and ammunition were confiscated.

The army said a vehicle used by the assailant who carried out the shooting attack in the town of Huwara on February 26, where two Israelis were killed, was also confiscated.

Additionally, an individual suspected of involving in terrorist activity was apprehended in the town of Wadi Siman overnight.

The Palestinian town of Huwara has been the scene of violence several times in recent weeks.

At the end of February, a Palestinian shot dead two Israeli brothers. Israeli settlers then set fire to houses, shops, and cars. A road runs through the town that many settlers use daily.

The security situation in Israel and the Palestinian Territories has long been tense. Since the beginning of the year, 14 Israelis and one Ukrainian woman have been killed in attacks by Palestinians.

In the same period, 91 Palestinians have died in clashes with the Israeli army or after their own attacks.

Before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan began, there were fears of further intensification, but the first week remained relatively calm.

Experience from previous years has shown that tensions can increase during this time in the region.
