Anglican Church prays for new hope in Nigeria

On Thursday, the Anglican Bishop of Abakaliki, Monday Nkwagu, tasked leaders and the led to embrace sacrificial services capable of positively impacting national development.
Mr Nkwagu gave the charge in Abakaliki on the significance of Easter, which he said signified victory and salvation for mankind.
He charged Nigerians to shun corruption, violence and greed, stressing that embracing sacrificial living, which characterised the life of Jesus Christ, would bring improvements.
Mr Nkwagu also charged Nigerians to imbibe the true spirit of nation-building in the spirit of the season.
“Easter celebration reminds us of victory, transformation and power over evil and death, which Jesus Christ had given through resurrection. This resurrection has given us hope for victory over death and evil and also brought well-being to life,’’ he said.
He expressed optimism that the 2023 Easter celebration would usher in good governance, security, development, and good standards of living and growth.
“We are eager and expecting an administration that will bring hope and transformation over what has been wrong. We believe it is going to be real next level,’’ he said.
Mr Nkwagu stressed that if Nigeria’s democracy would stand and leaders and the led exhibited the fear of God, Nigeria would be a better country.
