Unknown gunmen, suspected to be cultists, have killed three persons during an invasion in Ubeta community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The suspected cultists on Wednesday invaded the community just two days after two shop owners, Chimezie Nagbo and one other, was kidnapped in the community.

The ruler of Ubeta community, Million Jonathan, confirmed the incident on phone with journalists. He disclosed that not all three persons killed were cultists.

He also revealed that two shop owners who were kidnapped were neighbours and since their abduction, the kidnappers were yet to make any contact with the abductees family members or the community.

Speaking further, he said that the incidents had been happening before now and many of the natives had abandoned the community as a result of past incidents.

According to him, some of the youths who had renounced cultism had renegaged and gone back to criminality.
