Elon Musk returns as world’s richest man

Elon Musk has reclaimed the number-one spot as the richest man on the planet after toppling luxury brand multi-billionaire owner, Bernard Arnault, from the top spot on Wednesday.
The Tesla and Twitter head surpassed the French luxury brand billionaire after the shares of LVMH owned by Mr Arnault dropped by 2.6% in Paris trading.
Bloomberg Billionaire Index places Elon Musk’s net worth at $192 billion, making him the first on the list and the world’s richest man at the moment.
The index places LVMH Bernard Arnault’s net worth at $187 billion making him the second on the list
The third position goes to Jeff Bezos of Amazon with a net worth of $144 billion.
Elon Musk runs Tesla, America’s foremost electric car company. He also owns Twitter, the popular micro-blogging platform, and Space X, his space programme initiative.
Mr Arnault owns LVMH, a French multinational holding, and conglomerate specialising in luxury goods. LVMH is the world’s leading dealer in luxury brands. It owns popular luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Christine Dior, Fendi, Sephora, etc.
Messrs Musk and Arnault have been locked in a race for the number-one spot for several months.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a credible daily ranking of the world’s 500 richest people based on their net worth.
