16 abducted church worshippers regain freedom in Kaduna

The 16 church worshippers kidnapped by bandits on 7th May at Bege Baptist Church, Kaduna state, have regained their freedom.

Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna Chapter, Reverend John Hayab told Peoples Gazette on phone that the abducted members were released on Sunday after ransom and a motorcycle was given to the bandits.

Mr Hayab thanked the Muslim community who contributed money and also bought a motorcycle as part of requirements for the release of the abducted church members. 

40 worshippers were abducted by unknown gunmen on their way for Sunday service but some, however, managed to escape leaving behind the 16 who regained freedom.
