Moses Sule emerges Plateau Assembly speaker, Fom Gwottson as deputy

The member representing Mikang constituency, Moses Sule, has emerged as Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly.
Mr Sule, a former vice chairman of Mikang Local Government Area of the state and a first-time legislator, was elected Speaker of the 10th Assembly on Tuesday.
The newly elected speaker was sworn into office alongside the member representing Jos South Constituency, Fom Gwottson, who emerged as Deputy Speaker.
Messrs Sule and Gwottson were nominated by members representing Qua’an Pan South Constituency, Cornelius Dongnaan Doeyok, and Shendam Constituency Joe Bukar, respectively.
Both nominations were seconded by member representing Pankshin North constituency, Gabriel Dewan, and member representing Riyom Constituency, Timothy Dantong.
As no counter nomination by members was witnessed, the Clark of the House, Ponvan Wuyep, declared both of them Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
Mr Sule emerged as Speaker after months of leadership tussle in the 9th Assembly between Ayuba Abok and Yakubu Sanda.
The new speaker assured his colleagues of inclusion and urged them not to toe the path of the previous administration.
He said; “I want to assure you all of my resolve to work with everyone of you. Let us work together, let us not have a rancorous house like in the past,” according to Sun newspaper.
“We are here for Plateau people, we are not here as political parties. We appreciate our electorates for the confidence repousse on us, we can not loose guard. We can not afford to fail our electorates, we can not afford to lose our integrity in the comity of nations,” he added.
