Mateo Kovacić completes switch to Manchester City from Chelsea

Premier League champions Manchester City have completed the signing of Mateo Kovacić on a three-year permanent deal from Chelsea, Peoples Gazette can confirm.
“Manchester City have completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea on a four-year deal,” Manchester City said in a statement on Tuesday. They paid £25 million which could rise to £30 million with add ons for the service of the Croatia international.
The 29-year-old joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2018 initially on a loan spell before the move was made permanent a year later. He made 221 appearances for the Blues winning the Champions League, Europa League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Speaking to the club’s website on completion of the move, the former Real Madrid player is thrilled to be joining the “best in the world” and expresses his eagerness to learn Pep Guardiola’s style of football and get started.
“This is a brilliant move for me, and I cannot wait to get started with City,” Kovacic said.
“Anyone who has watched this team under Pep knows how good they are – for me, they are the best in the world. The trophies they have won are clear for all to see, but they are also the best footballing side out there.
“To be joining this squad really is a dream for any footballer.
