A group of youths from the South-West geopolitical zone has hailed Bola Tinubu’s recent decisions since assuming office, describing the president as more knowledgeable than his predecessors.

They regarded his decisions as timely and appropriate, showcasing Mr Tinubu’s commitment to national unity and the welfare of the people.

“No president has shown this level of preparedness, depth of knowledge of Nigeria and courage to take critical decisions like Tinubu,” the group, operating under the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement was signed by Gbenga Ogunsola, the vice-president (South-West) of the NYC and Tosin Adesuyi (South-West Caucus Leader, Ekiti).

Other signatories are Ibrahim Adeoye (secretary, NYC Lagos chapter), Seyifunmi Afolabi (NYC chairman, Ogun), Olakolupo Akinbode (NYC chairman, Osun), and Temitope Adedara (NYC chairman, Ekiti).

The youths declared Mr Tinubu as most qualified for the position, while acknowledging the policies implemented by his administration, including the suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, the appointment of new service chiefs, and the dissolution of certain government boards.

While expressing their willingness to support Mr Tinubu’s leadership, they urged him to be cautious when appointing individuals into his cabinet.

The emphasised the importance of selecting individuals who align with the president’s vision of good governance, particularly in terms of youth development.

Also, the youths advocated for Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti) to assume the position of the next Senate leader.

The group highlighted Mr Bamidele’s experience from his role as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters in the ninth Senate.

The group emphasised that an experienced Senate leader like Mr Bamidele would effectively work with Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the 10th Assembly, particularly in legislating for the advancement of the nation, youth development, and other critical matters.
