A Bauchi chief magistrate court 12 in Bauchi presided by Magistrate Haruna Abdulmumini Mamman has sentenced a 32-year-old man Auwal Usman to two years’ imprisonment without an option of fine for severing his friend’s two hands.

The judge also ordered the convict to pay N150,000 as medical expenses incurred by the victim.

Mr Usman cut off the hands with a machete amid a quarrel.

The police prosecutor, Yusuf Musa, told the court that Mr Usman had a misunderstanding with his friend, Sabo Abduwa, which resulted in a fight.

Then, Mr Usman brought out a machete and severed the two hands of Mr Abduwa. One hand fell to the ground while the other remained dangling.

The police officer said the victim was rushed to the Ningi General Hospital, where the dangling hand was amputated.

The suspect admitted the charges against him and pleaded for leniency from the court, being the first offence he ever committed.
