Despite over 237 killed in his first month in office, President Bola Tinubu says things are gradually getting better in the country in terms of security.

“On security, I’ve just had a meeting this afternoon with governor of Borno State. Things are gradually getting better,” Mr Tinubu said.

“I’ll appeal to Dariye to please send a message back home to Plateau. The kind of peace we had then is desired now. We’ll do everything possible to stabilise the country. We have no reasons whatsoever killing ourselves.”

Mr Tinubu disclosed this when speaking with governors of class 1999 who met with him at the Villa on Wednesday.

On June 30, Peoples Gazette reported that at least 237 persons were killed in different attacks across the country in Mr Tinubu’s first month in office.

With more attacks recorded in Plateau and Benue, a summation of reported cases of killings by Boko Haram, bandits and gunmen across the country since Mr Tinubu assumed office would see the number increase.

In a statement on Tuesday by Presidential spokesperson, Dele Alake, Mr Tinubu expressed sadness and grief over the rounds of violence and killings in Plateau and Benue, charging security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.
