Gov. Bago pledges adequate security for NYSC members in Niger

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger has called on security agencies to ensure that corps members posted to the state were well protected.

Mr Bago gave the directive during the swearing-in of the 2023 Batch B, Stream 1, corps members posted to the state and those dislodged from FCT at the orientation camp in the Paiko Local Government area.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, urged the corps members to use their energy, vigour and enthusiasm to partake in issues of national cohesion and nation-building as the vanguard of society.

He advised them as youths with the potential to lead the nation to greater heights, urging them to shun all acts capable of undermining the peace and security of the country.

In her address, Abdulwahab Alidat, NYSC coordinator in Niger, noted that 1,100 corps members had been registered, including those dislodged from the FCT.

She urged the corps members to acquaint themselves with the provisions of the NYSC act and bye-laws during their service year.

Ms Alidat advised them to be security conscious at all times and report suspicious characters or activities around them to the appropriate authority.

She urged the corps members to participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme by choosing from any skill area.
