The Bauchi State police command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Shu’aibu Musa, for allegedly stealing a bull in Dumadumin Kyaure Village, Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Tuesday that operatives of the Itas-Gadau divisional police headquarters arrested the suspect before handing him over to the Jigawa State police command for further investigation.

“The command received a phone call on 5th July, 2026 at about 1100hrs from the DPO Kafin Hausa division, Jigawa State command, regarding a case of theft,” he said.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that at about 2:20 a.m. on July 4, 2026, the suspect allegedly trespassed into the residence of a 40-year-old man and stole a bull valued at ₦800,000.

Mr Habib said detectives from the Gadau division launched a surveillance operation and strategically laid an ambush, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen bull.

He added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“He and the recovered exhibit have since been handed over to the DPO, Kafin Hausa division, Jigawa State command, for continuation of the case and possible prosecution,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and inter-state collaboration.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to working with all security stakeholders to ensure that criminals have no hiding place within and around the state.
