Gov. Makinde appoints new Amotekun chairman, reappoints board members

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has appointed a retired assistant inspector-general of police, Sikiru Akande, as the new chairman of the board of the Oyo state security network agency, codenamed Amotekun.
The governor, according to a letter on Monday, signed by his chief of staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, also reappointed all other members of the Amotekun board, with Esther Akibode, a civil servant, to serve as secretary.
The letter indicates that the special adviser on security to the Governor, retired CP Fatai Owoseni, and executive assistant on security to the Governor, retired CP Sunday Odukoya, are to be statutory members of the board.
Other members of the board are Bisiriyu Olayanju; Khadijat Hamzat; Samson Ogunlowo; Oba Oladapo Oyediran; R.A. Babalola; state police commissioner and representative of the armed forces.
The governor charged the new chairman and the board members to see their appointments as call to greater service.
